[LTER-mcm-pi] Grad Student rep to LTER from MCM?

Hi all,

As you know, the LTER works to have significant graduate student representation and mentoring across the network and one way that they do this is to have a graduate student representative from each site. In the past, both Tina and I have served this role for MCM when we were students (the grad rep at the HJA when I was a grad rep became a professor at Penn State while I was there). Our most recent grad rep was Tyler Kohler - or rather, Dr. Tyler Kohler, now that he has defended his dissertation and finished up. Hence, we will need to replace Tyler as the MCM LTER student rep.

This is a great opportunity for a student who might be a long-term LTER scientist, to become more engaged with the network and eventually steer the network someday. The work load is not huge. The student reps are expected to meet at the ASM (once every 3 years), and I believe that they meet at ESA annually. I would like to find a way to support this directly in the MCM5 proposal so that it is not an unfunded mandate in a subcontract (we can do this from CU).

Any nominations for MCM LTER graduate student representative? Please let me know by next Monday, 22 June.

Thanks.

Mike
