Greetings,

We are pleased to announce applications are now being accepted for the 2018 offering of our Methods in Environmental Data Acquisition short course, otherwise known as the Remote Data Acquisition (RDA) Sensor Training Workshop (https://unmsevilletafieldstation.wordpress.com/rda/ <http://sevfs.unm.edu/courses/rda/>).

This intensive course will be held 3-9 June 2018 at the University of New Mexico Sevilleta Field Station in beautiful central New Mexico. Participants will be provided with a comprehensive and affordable introduction to the major aspects of field-based environmental data acquisition with an emphasis on hands-on learning. By using a combination of field demonstrations, lectures, hands-on activities, and discussions, we will cover several topics fundamental to the remote acquisition of environmental sensor data:

	Basic electronics
	Photovoltaic power for remote instrumentation
TCP/IP networking and Wi-Fi telemetry systems
Sensor theory and Campbell Scientific datalogger wiring and programming

This year’s course will cost $750, which covers lodging, meals, and shuttle service to/from the Albuquerque airport. For an additional fee, students will also have the opportunity to participate in one of two optional post-course field trips on Saturday, June 9th, to enhance their overall experience.

The number of participants we will be able to accommodate is limited to 20. While preference will be given to technicians, graduate students, postdoctoral associates, and early career faculty who demonstrate research needs in one or more of these areas, anyone interested in the topic of remote environmental sensor data acquisition is encouraged to apply.

To apply and see more detailed information about the course agenda, field trips, fees, and logistics, visit our website: https://unmsevilletafieldstation.wordpress.com/rda/ <http://sevfs.unm.edu/courses/rda/>. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly at rfbrown at unm.edu <mailto:rfbrown at unm.edu>.

Thank you for your interest and please pass along to anyone you think would benefit from this course.

Renée
