Dear Colleagues,

The Environmental Data Initiative is hosting a workshop at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM on 14-16 November 2017. The goal of our workshop is to enhance research projects’ efficiency in archiving their data packages in accordance with the standards developed by the ecological research community. EDI will provide attendees’ travel to Albuquerque, food, and lodging costs.

Specifically, we will show how to create metadata compliant to the Ecological Metadata Language (EML) standard (v2.1.1), prepare quality controlled data packages for archiving in the EDI data repository as well as creating data catalogs with access to the data repository’s PASTA+ API interface on a project’s website.

Our workshop will cover the following topics with hands-on exercises:

  *   Discussion of metadata content.

  * Preparation of data tables for archiving in accordance with QA/QC standards.

  *   Creating EML using R .

  * Publishing data packages in the EDI repository with support from the EDI team.

  * Creating catalogs of data packages archived in the EDI repository on the local project’s website and access via the repository’s PASTA+ API interface.

The number of attendees is limited to 15. While we will train as a group, the small number of participants will allow us to provide personalized support that considers the range of technical skills and data package complexities.

Please fill out the application form here<http://environmentaldatainitiative.us14.list-manage.com/track/click?u=c258a774cbd4d34290410d1ea&id=6e9e103bb3&e=3cb49ced33> no later than 25 September 2017. EDI will inform attendees on 28 September 2017. We will prepare a series of video tutorials that convey the workshop’s content for those who cannot attend this session.
