Dear colleagues,

There are a few things to be done prior to the our IMC meeting on Sunday:

1. Please review the agenda before the meeting: http://im.lternet.edu/meetings/2015/agenda

2. We are starting to consider where the administrative function for the NIMO operation might be hosted. We have looked at partnering with a non-profit, but it also makes sense for us to consider existing institutions that host LTER sites. If you think your home institution (not your site per se) would be interested, please explore that idea prior to Sunday and be prepared to voice your interest at the meeting. Things to consider, 1) we hope to minimize overhead, so your institution would have to be prepared to run at off-site rates (<30%) to compare with the non-profits we have been looking at, and 2) someone with the relevant skills would need to be the PI on the cooperative agreement. If that would not be you, who would it be?

3. On the Wednesday (9/2, session 7, Longs Peak Diamond West) we have a group session planned to collect scientist input regarding what services NIMO might offer and how the scientists would like to interact with a new organization. This will only be successful if we get some scientists in the room, so please encourage your colleagues to attend and take part in the discussion.

4. We still need nominations for the open positions (2-IMexec co-chairs, 2-IMexec, 1-NISAC). Please consider serving, or encourage colleagues who you think would do a good job to stand. Send nominations to me.

5. If you are planning to stand, enter a short statement on the candidate page on the IM site: http://im.lternet.edu/meetings/2015/cand_statements

6. Current working group leaders. I know many of you have been engaged on the data center WG, but if you are leading a WG and you have an update on progress, we have set aside some time (8:20-8:45) for you to update the IMC. Please let me know if you want to take advantage of this slot.

7. If you are running an IM related session at the ASM, be prepared to give a short pitch (1-2 mins) at our meeting (8:45-9:00), so that your colleagues know when, where and the subject matter for your session.

8. Finally, we have two visitors (Peter Groffman (EB chair) @ 10:00am and Saran Twombly (NSF) @ 1:00pm) joining us on Sunday. Please think about what questions you may have for these folks. In particular, if you have specific topics you want Saran to cover, please let me know by COB on Wednesday, as she would like to be able to prepare background material as needed.

I am sorry this is a longer than usual list, but I guess exciting times lead to long lists...

Thank you for your support.
