Not this year for KBs (things fell through with our 2019 teacher). But I’m supportive of our efforts to create RET standards and align across sites!

I think this RET meet-up/discussion is really good. We don't have an RET this year but have 2 REUs.

Definitely count us in! I have 2 RETs that are going with me to the Arc LTER site - we leave July 31 and return Aug. 10th. We work with our RETs all school year so they will be available all school year if we want information from them.

We’d be game!
Especially if the goal is to identify some strong pathways for RET “success” from the teacher’s perspective.
Our program also ends Aug. 9.
Alex Rose raised this point in a meeting yesterday: the RET solicitation is rather vague on the expected balance between fieldwork, science deliverables, and education deliverables. Of course it’s great to have that flexibility in the RFP, but at our site this summer, in practice, that has led to some uncertainty and consternation for our RET. She knows her primary goal is create a data nugget, and she’s set her own personal goal of creating a “lab kit” to test out in her classroom – but, since she’s embedded in the PI’s lab this summer with a group of busy-bee RAs and REUs, she is also engaged in fieldwork and lab analysis and feels an imperative to “keep up” with the lab’s fieldwork and analysis needs. There has been a lot of transparency and communication among the educators and the PI on this project, but the uncertainty still remains, especially as the summer starts to draw to a close and time is limited.

Would you be interested in trying to arrange for at least one virtual meeting of RET Fellows at our sites this summer.
We have one RET in BES and two here at Cary, all finishing around August 9, so we’d have to move swiftly in setting something up.
Thoughts?
