It is with great pleasure I announce that starting Monday last week, Dr. Tana Wood will be working on a full time term position as a research ecologist at the Institute.

While working at IITF, Tana will be responsible for planning, organizing and conducting research on the effects of warming effects on carbon cycling of a Puerto Rican subtropical forest: Investigating temperature regulation of key soil biogeochemical and plant physiological processes (Problem 2-1A of RWUD 4151:  Neotropical climate and environmental change, A Forest Warming Experiment).

Her research will help  (1) evaluate the vulnerability of Puerto Rico's forests to projected increases in temperature; (2) improve our understanding of global warming effects on tropical forest carbon (C) and nutrient cycling; and (3) provide valuable forest response information to land managers, policy makers, and global climate modeling efforts.
