Hi all, a friendly reminder to register for the upcoming ESA & ESIP meetings if you’ve not done so already. Refer to my original message, included below, for further details. The deadline to register for ESIP is coming up soon (7/1). To address a few questions I’ve had so far:
* You do not need to be an ESA member to attend the ESA meeting. LNO will not reimburse anyone for ESA membership fees (or any other costs related to attendance at these meetings).
* LNO will sponsor 1 person from each site to ESA and 1 person from each site to ESIP. We generally expect all designated site IM reps to attend ESA, per the original plan. If this same individual cannot attend ESIP, we are suggesting the site send another data-focused individual from their site that would benefit from attending this meeting.
* On the ESIP registration form, the partner organization is listed as “US LTER”
Thanks, on behalf of IM Exec,
Renée

Hi all,
Please read this entire message, as it contains important information on how to register for the ESA & ESIP meetings.
Following up on my previous email (included below) and the announcements I made during today’s meeting (recording will soon be available in the Google Drive), I’ve included the link (at the bottom of this message) to fill out the information needed by LNO in order to process everyone’s registration fees to both the ESA and ESIP meetings. As I mentioned on the call, LNO will be handling registrations for one IM representative from each site to each meeting. This means no paying out of pocket and no reimbursements!
IM Exec strongly encourages participation from all LTER sites in both meetings! If you are the IM rep and can’t attend one or both meetings this year, please consider finding another interested party at your site who can represent the LTER IMC. ESIP is especially thrilled to hear we will be able to participate and encourages submissions to the virtual poster/demo showcase (you can indicate this during registration). Be creative. For example, this person could be someone from your IM team, a student, or an aspiring early-career researcher with strong data skills and interests. This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to attend and participate in two great meetings!
For ESA, all that is needed is the participant’s name, contact info, and ESA membership status. For ESIP, we ask you to list the participant’s name and indicate when they have filled out their registration form. From ESIP: Each participant should register at http://www.cvent.com/d/2nqw4m/4W by 7/1 if possible. When registering, please have each select Registration Type "Partner Rate" and then enter the discount code LTER (all caps) at the final payment step just before submitting the registration form. This will allow them to register without paying and it will help us keep track in our system of how much to invoice. You can also let folks know if you haven't already that more info about the meeting, including the agenda, can be found at https://2020esipsummermeeting.sched.com/.
We will soon begin a second spreadsheet containing sessions of particular interest to the LTER IMC.

Dear LTER Information Managers,
Our annual IMC meeting was scheduled for Sunday, August 2, 2020, preceding the Ecological Society of America’s (ESA) annual meeting. As you may be aware, ESA has decided that the 2020 meeting will now be fully virtual due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, IM Exec has decided not to host our annual IMC meeting in conjunction with ESA. Instead, we will host a mini meeting of the IMC during our regularly scheduled August water cooler (10 August 2020 at 3p ET / 12p PT) where we will address business items, including elections, that would have typically been considered during our annual meeting. Thus, it is important that all voting members of the IMC participate in the August water cooler.
The ESA meeting, despite being virtual, will continue to maintain a strong “40 years of LTER” presence, featuring many relevant sessions and opportunities<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nDAD-miXFqImEpiSSf9XI-ANOR9oeXzEID7iSvc19tM/edit?usp=sharing> proposed by our colleagues, and showcasing outstanding ecological science. As such, we strongly encourage IMs to attend and participate in ESA. Furthermore, because of the tremendous cost savings afforded by ESA going virtual, we have sufficient funds in our budget to also cover the registration fees for the ESIP Summer Meeting, which will also be held virtually. We strongly encourage IMs to attend and participate in both the ESA and ESIP meetings. LNO will cover registration (but not ESA membership) fees for one IMC representative from each LTER site to attend one or both meetings. LNO will soon be providing specific details on how to register for each meeting.
