Hi HBR grads and post-docs,

Just a reminder that there are still many spots available to present on your research at the COS meeting on July 14. Please let me know ASAP if you would like to present so we can work out the scheduling details.

Thanks!

See you all in July,

Good morning HBR grads and post-docs,

I’m writing to remind you about the COS meeting this summer on July 14 following the annual HBR cooperator’s meeting. All graduate students and post-docs are encouraged to attend!

We got a lot of great feedback from the recent survey about what you guys want to get out of the COS meeting. Two of the items of most interest were

1) A chance to present your research to the group of PIs
and
2) Meetings with PIs in small groups to discuss various topics (we will provide you with some ideas, but one of the potential topics is career advice)

Based on this feedback, the morning half of the COS meeting on July 14 will be devoted to graduate students and post-docs, including presentations from 6-10 people on their research (results/possible directions and ideas for collaborations, etc.). This will be a great chance to get targeted feedback from a smaller group of scientists than at the larger meeting.

Please let me know as soon as you can if you think you might be interested in presenting that morning! The draft schedule for the COS meeting is copied below.

Tentative Schedule for July 2017 COS Meeting:
8:00am-10:30am: Graduate student & postdoc research presentations (6-10 talks)

10:30am-11:30am: Small break-out groups with PI’s to discuss career advice (or another topic if students/ postdocs want something else)

11:30am-12:15pm: COS Business Meeting (including discussion of potential demonstration plots for outreach)

12:15-1pm: Lunch

1-2pm: Foliage work updates and discussion led by Linda Pardo

2-3pm: Diversity/Biogeochemistry work updates and discussion led by Nick Rodenhouse

3pm: Close
