[LTER-hbr_grad] July COS meeting draft agenda

Hi HBR grads,

Thanks for your participation in the recent survey re: the July COS meeting. Taking those comments into consideration, we have devised the following tentative schedule for Friday, July 14:


8:00am-10:30am: Graduate student & postdoc research presentations (6-10 talks )
10:30am-11:30am: Small break-out groups with PI’s to discuss career advice (or another topic if students/ postdocs want something else)
11:30am-12:15pm: COS Business Meeting (including discussion of potential demonstration plots for outreach)
12:15-1pm: Lunch
1-2pm: Foliage work updates and discussion led by Linda Pardo
2-3pm: Diversity/Biogeochemistry work updates and discussion led by Nick Rodenhouse
3pm: Close

Please let me know if you are interested in giving a talk about your research in the morning—this will give you the chance to present your work in perhaps more detail than you might in the talks on Wednesday and Thursday, or you could present something you are working on that is still in the early stages of development. This will be a great venue for getting quality feedback and advice from a focused group of PIs. Again, let me know if you are interested in doing this and if so, how long you think you might need to present.

Additionally, please let me know if you have any topics you would like to discuss in small groups with PIs (item 2 on the agenda). If no suggestions come forward, we will have a general discussion about career advice.
