Dear LTER Education and Diversity Committees,
NSF is holding a webinar on September 30 to share information about
multiple cross-directorate opportunities for enhancing diversity, Equity
and Inclusion in STEM (see email and flyer below for registration). This
should be a good opportunity to better understand what qualities each of
the programs is seeking in proposals and how they intersect. I hope at
least a few of you will join me there as we work to develop ways of
supporting STEM inclusion across the LTER Network.
While I have your attention, I also wanted to alert you to NEON's call for
technical advisors. One of the technical working groups focuses on
engagement and would be appropriate for LTER education and outreach
managers.
*Seeking scientists, engineers and data experts to advise the NEON program*
Interested in ensuring that the National Ecological Observatory Network
(NEON) is a valuable resource for the community? Consider joining a
Technical Working Group (TWG) and help shape NEON science and data. NEON
relies on almost two dozen TWGs to advise the program on topics ranging
from data standards to specific collection methods. The overarching
objective of TWGs is to ensure that the design and operation of the
observatory is based upon sound scientific rationale and good engineering
practice.
NEON is seeking TWG nominees that represent a diversity of expertise,
backgrounds, perspectives, and career stages. If you are interested in
helping them solve important science and technical questions related to
operating and maintaining NEON observatory subsystems, nominate yourself or
someone else today

They are currently accepting nominations through Sept 30, 2020 and will
notify all nominees of whether they have been selected by Oct 31, 2020. For
groups that are needed for longer than a year, nominations will be
requested annually thereafter.
Learn more about NEON TWGs and how to join.
