Dear LTER Committee Chairs,

Annual Committee Reports are something that fell through the cracks last
year as the NCO got up to speed. The NCO and the Executive Board would like
to request reports from committee chairs for the period from May 2015-May
2017.

These need not be a major undertaking, but they are a huge help in keeping
the Network abreast of the committee's activity.

Please submit reports by *May 31* so that they can be included with a
Network update from the Science Council meeting later this month. Please
send as a pdf to downs at nceas.ucsb.edu with LTER committee report in the
subject line.

Reports should be brief documents that are easily scanned for key
information and include the following sections:

   - Committee Name
   - Leadership structure and individuals (chair, co-chairs, executive
   board, etc)
   - Members
   - Mission
   - Meeting frequency
   - Meeting topics or outside speakers
   - Major activities and accomplishments for the period
   - Planned activities for the coming year

In addition to reports, select committees (IM, Education, Grad, Diversity,
Communications and ILTER) will offer brief presentations at this year's
science council meetings.

Those presentations should cover a similar set of topics, as well as
reflect on whether a committee (ongoing, with regular meetings, bylaws, and
voting) is the most effective structure to achieve your group's goals.

Thanks,
Marty
