Dear US LTER Colleagues,
In anticipation of the third Open Science meeting of the International LTER
(ILTER) network, the ILTER executive committee has been busy, with newly
elected members including
- Hideaki Shibata (Japan, East Asia LTER network) (continuing)
- Tiffany Troxler (US LTER, FCE) - Co-Chair of the ILTER network,
becoming Chair in November 2022
- Elli Groner (Israel, European LTER network [eLTER]) - Chair of Science
Committee
- Herbert Haubold (Germany, eLTER) - Secretary (re-elected)
- Kristin Vanderbilt (US LTER, FCE) - Co-Chair of Information Management
Committee
- Guru Siddeswara (Australia, East Asia LTER network) - Co-Chair of
Information Management Committee
- Michael Mirtl (Austria, eLTER) - Chair of - International
Collaboration Committee
- Nathalie Cools (Belgium, eLTER) - Auditor
- Aurora Gaxiola (Chile, Americas LTER regional network) - Auditor
- Nancy Grimm (US LTER, CAP) - US co-representative
- David Iwaniec (US LTER, CAP) - US co-representative
Two activities regarding the US LTER International Committee (Co-Chairs,
Nancy Grimm and David Iwaniec) are relevant. First, *we are seeking new
members of the International Committee to join for a 2- or 3- year
term.* Ideally
(but not necessarily), these would be people with international research
experience and connections to other LTER sites around the world. Second, we
would like to invite those with research connections in the Americas to a
discussion with colleagues from Canada, Mexico, and South America about
reinvigorating the Americas regional network for LTER. This discussion will
be held on January 11 at 2 pm EST.
Those interested in joining the committee are invited to send your contact
information to nbgrimm at asu.edu with a short description of your current or
aspirational international work and why you want to join the committee.
Those interested in the Americas group should just let us know so you can
be added to the discussion (virtual).
We expect once the committee is established to begin discussions about our
primary goals for the next three years, to include US participation in an
Americas LTER network and, of course, in the triennial Open Science
Meetings. We hope you will be interested in participating in these
activities.
Thank you,
Nancy, David, and Tiffany

What we call Arizona today has been home to twenty-two tribal nations for
centuries. Arizona State University occupies land in the Salt River Valley
that was taken from the Akimel O’odham (Pima) and Pee Posh (Maricopa)
Indian Communities.
