Subject: [LTER-All-lter] NSF funding for travel to ILTER Open Science
Meeting, Kruger NP, Oct 9-13
To: All-lter at lists.lternet.edu
Colleagues,
NSF has provided supplemental funding to the NCO to expand collaboration
between LTER and ILTER scientists. Funds are available to support travel
by LTER scientists to the first ILTER Open Science Meeting, being held *9-13
October 2016* in the Kruger National Park, South Africa.
The meeting will focus on long-term ecosystem research for sustainability
under global changes, with topical themes in the following areas:
- Nitrogen impacts on ecosystems structure and function
- Carbon and water cycles under climate change
- Towards sustainable usage of ecosystem services (local, regional &
global)
- Drivers of biodiversity across scales
- Data integration and interoperability linking global scale ecosystem
research and environmental monitoring
- Linking local, regional and global Earth system observations and models
- Long-term studies of population dynamics
- Long-term changes in nutrient cycling
Depending on the number of requests, we can provide full or partial funding
to two individuals per site, with priority given to early-career
researchers. To request travel funding, please send an e-mail to Jordan
Halland (halland at nceas.ucsb.edu) with the subject heading *ILTER travel
request* and the following information:
1. Name
2. Position
3. LTER site affiliation
4. Title of proposed talk, poster or workshop
5. Details of a specific collaboration you plan to begin or expand, with
a few sentences on how attending the ILTER meeting would contribute to
building the proposed collaboration and what your goals are for the meeting.
6. Brief budget, to include estimated airfare, hotel, meals and lodging
With best regards,
FD
