Could you please post this to the all-LTER list? Thanks.
Greetings from your LTER Ad-Hoc Diversity Committee. Our committee grew
out of the 2012 ASM through workshops, conversations, and a synthesis
working group. We're organizing our first Diversity & Inclusion workshop
for the 2015 ASM, and we hope you'll attend! Please mark your calendar
for Tuesday morning (September 1, 2015) at 10am.
In this workshop, you will hear from a range of sites that have taken
concrete, deliberate actions to foster diversity and inclusion, and seen
real results. Whether you're looking for some fine-tuning or wondering
where to start, this workshop is a great place to learn from your LTER
peers. Current focus topics are: 1) building mentoring systems, and 2)
developing formal diversity plans. We also want to hear what other
questions and topics YOU want included.
We hope that you will make sure your site is represented in this
important workshop. Our goal is to have participants from all sites so
we can explore LTER-wide challenges and strategies for fostering,
sustaining and benefiting from diversity in all its forms.
If you're planning to attend, please sign up at
http://goo.gl/forms/mGVlZU4WnK. Later in the summer we'll send out a
brief survey to our attendees to gather your input and help make sure
the workshop addresses your needs.
Thank you in advance for your participation!
On behalf of the LTER Ad-Hoc Diversity Committee,
Daniel Nidzgorski, Chair
