NHPR reporter Annie Ropeik joined Dartmouth biologist Matt Ayres in the field last fall as he set up sound recorders that will passively monitor migratory birds this spring as they return from their wintering grounds—an innovation, after 51 years of bird research at Hubbard Brook, necessitated by the pandemic's disruption of the field work season.
