The UCSB Marine Science Institute (MSI) seeks a Scientific Information
Manager for the Santa Barbara Coastal Long-term Ecological Research (SBC
LTER) project, which works in the kelp forests of the Santa Barbara
Channel. The data and information manager facilitates data sharing within
the project, and works with scientists and students to design and deliver
data products to network repositories for reuse and synthesis.

The job is in UCSB's 'Specialist track', which is an academic appointment
for those engaged in specialized research and professional activity, but
without teaching. The job ad below is for an entry-level data manager- but
flexible enough for someone with more advanced skills, and has room for
growth. SBC's data manager works closely M. Gastil-Buhl, the information
manager at MCR LTER. The SBC research group is great -- active, involved
and collaborative in all aspects of the project. They all support data
preservation and appreciate the work that goes on in the IM office.
