Hi Mike, on #3, I got an invite today to go and can't. I will tell them this but if there is someone who didn't get an invite that would like to go I could make a suggestion for a replacement. Maybe we should get a count of who among us got an invite. We should try and keep our representation high.

Hi all,

A couple of annoucements -
1) Ashley Shaw (Ph D student with Diana @ CSU) will be our new graduate student site rep. The need to designate someone reminds me that we haven’t been particularly formal about this and I’d like to see us change that a little bit. We can discuss on the next webconf (reminder - it will be next Wed, 01 July at 2pm mountain - connection details coming early next week)

2) Chris Jaros is heading off to get married this weekend. Congratulations are certainly in order. However, if you try to contact him and don’t hear back in the next 10 days or so, you’ll know why. If you have immediate needs, feel free to send to me and I’ll do what I can to address and/or collate a list for Chris’s return (a gift he will appreciate, I’m sure).

3) NSF is inviting some folks from the ANT science community to come to NSF to provide input on the redesign of McMurdo Station (13-16 July, I think). I know a few of us have received invitations. I’m planning to go, and I’d encourage anyone else who is invited to attend too. There can be strength in numbers in these sorts of meetings. I wouldn’t say it merits canceling a vacation for, but if you can make the time (or need the frequent flyer miles, or like hot, humid summer days along the mid Atlantic seaboard), I’m hopeful your input would be well received. If you aren’t going for any reason and have input, send your thoughts to me or give me a call and I’m happy to voice them at the meeting.

3.5) I’ll be in the process of packing and moving my lab and office contents over the next 2 days, so I’ll be in and out of contact as well (online at night likely).

cheers
-Mike
