Subject: Puerto Rico FIA and San Juan urban meetings

Hello:

Bill Burkman, US Forest Service Southern Research Station Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) Program Manager, will be visiting Puerto Rico to meet with forest inventory stakeholders. The goal of this visit is to learn how the FIA program can better meet the information needs of those stakeholders.

If you have not already been contacted, I would like to invite you to attend one or both meetings to be held on July 5th in the US Forest Service International Institute of Tropical Forestry's conference room.

Starting at 9 :00 am, Bill Burkman will give an introduction on the national FIA program status. This will be followed by a presentation on FIA's work in Puerto Rico by Humfredo Marcano and the opportunity for discussion how the program is doing. We want to know if the inventory is providing you with useful information and how it can be improved.

At 10:45 am there will be a presentation and discussion on a urban forest inventory proposal for San Juan. This project proposes to remeasure the previous San Juan Bay Estuary watershed forest inventory plots and expand the sampling into the greater San Juan metropolitan area. We seek feedback from stakeholders to refine our plans and partnerships to help carry the project forward. We expect to conclude at noon.

Please attend either or both sessions and come with questions. We want to hear from you on how we can improve the value of our work in Puerto Rico.
