Jess,

I am writing to tell you that I will not be at this year’s meetings. I am
currently here now (doing January sampling) and I have to be back in
Liberty on Thursday so I squeezed this trip in between duties back home. I
will be finishing sampling while y’all are in meetings.

I have been thinking about our conversations over the last few years and I
think it is best if I discontinue field work in PR. Sarah is trained on
frog and anole work. I would like to use the limited time I have for
research to be spent processing data already collected rather than
gathering new data. My schedule allows me time to do field work or process
the samples but I find it difficult to do both and I have been finding the
whole thing quite stressful.

On that front, I have been working on the anole data from the CTE (see
figure attached) and have results and am working on a manuscript. I need to
check the dates before I submit it to Eda but it is virtually done and
includes all the data from the CTE prior to the cut and up until a series
of injuries compromised some of the data (basically 66 months post cut).

I am still working on the frog data. I will also ship additional litter
samples to Grizelle although this takes some time to get them prepped for
shipping.

I would like to return in early August to clean up the storage room down at
the stream house. Let me know if that is OK with you.

Thanks for all your support over the years. Sorry I was something of a
disappointment in the end.

Sincerely,

Paul
