Greetings IMC,
I will be off fishing next week so I want to send out an early heads up
about the water cooler next month. At the meeting we would like to cover a
couple of topics. First, we would like to take some time to discuss the
change in format for our annual meeting and the alternative virtual
opportunities available to information managers this summer. Renee sent
out an email with loads of information yesterday and we would like to have
some discussion about these changes.
The second portion of June's virtual water cooler will cover updates from
the Non-Tabular Data Working Group, which is developing best practices for
non-tabular datasets such as images, models, and genomics data. The group
will list best practices that are ready for review, and introduce data
types for which best practices are still under development.
Before the VWC, you may want to check out EDI's data package best practices
website. This site grew from the EML Best Practices v.3 document, but
accommodates practices beyond EML such as how to handle less traditional
datasets.
