Hi LTER site IMs and ClimDB working group -

As you recall, EDI has a summer fellow to help with the archiving tasks for
ClimHydroDB. This is "Part A", on the plan (link below). Judi Sclafani
started in mid-June, and this is a brief update on our progress.

Briefly, Part A has two major outputs:
1) an archive of all 60 database tables in their native format with
EMLmetadata (1 data package)
2) each contributor's data as an individual data package, formatted to the
6 ODM tables. (60 data packages). These tables will be suitable for upload
to CUASHI.

*Progress*:
Part A - Output #1
Tables from Climdb that are needed to recreate the database. ClimDB has a
considerable number of temporary or testing tables, which are not part of
the queries for output. We will work with Suzanne and Yang to determine the
necessary tables.

Part A - Output #2
Judi started with output #2. She has mapped the climDB fields to ODM and
EML fields, and started on ODM table creation. Judi plans to generate the
packages by writing a wrapper to the EMLAssemblyline R code. This package
created by Corinna in 2019 is used for reference:

The tables in these data packages will be suitable for contributing to
CUAHSI. However, whether or not to upload to CUAHSI will be decided by the
individual climhyDB contributors (LTER or USFS sites). First, sites should
upload higher frequency data if available (climhyDB is daily). The LTER EB
is encouraging sites to contribute their data to CUAHSI (Plan, Part B) and
so each site will need its own account in that system for future
contributions. EDI can work with sites individually, and the archived data
package may help with that process as well.

*Updates to ClimDB:*ClimDB is still accepting contributions. However,
material added after August 1 will not be archived.
Deadline: Aug 1

EDI is planning a general Q&A session July 7 2pm EDT (zoom link below).
Questions are welcome there, or anytime via email or on slack.
