...I forgot to say that I am very moved by all the kind thoughts that I received from many of you.
This has been one of the best group I have ever worked with (the other is the admin group at my site). I will always be proud to say that I am (will always be in my heart) an information manager of the LTER program.
We have been and, I hope, continue being the leaders in how a community of professionals should work together.
Our work have transcended geographic frontiers; we have worked with information managers and scientists from other countries as far as Taiwan and Malaysia.
Susan Stafford and others went to China in the 90's to work on data management projects. Emery, Porter and Henshaw have worked and may still work with people in Taiwan, among other places. Kristin did a lot of good connections and projects while she was the international representative of the LTER Program. There might be more of us that have worked in international projects that I may not be aware of...
In general, we are capable of collaborating with each other and elaborate great tools to serve our scientific community.
Each of us do an outstanding job serving their site, sometimes not only as an IM but as a field technician and admintrator.
...tell me , how can't I be proud to be one of us!
I learned a lot from you all and from my international collegues and friends... If I was a good IM it was greatly thanks to this.
I plan to remain active to a certain extend. I will see how it turns out.
Take good care of you and each other!
Con mucho cariño,
EDA

I am sad that for medical reasons I will not be able to attend this meeting; will certainly think of you all and wish you have a great meeting, as always.
Hoping that our paths will cross again sometime...

Dear Eda,
I would like to chime in with the well wishers for your retirement. And thank you for all your hard work and many contributions to the LTER IM work.
We will miss you at the meeting and I am sorry we can't give you an appropriate send off into the next chapter of your life.
Corinna

HI Eda,
It has been a great pleasure and joy to work with you. I will miss your camaraderie and your willingness to question why and how we do things. It always leads to great discussions.
Good luck on your next stage. May it be a fun one.
Best,
Jim

Saludos,
I want to tell you that I have not been active/responsive to your emails and working groups because I have been preparing for retirement. This will happen on Dec 31, 2018. Till then, I will remain active with the DEIMS group but will not take any more responsibilities for obvious reasons.
Things has gotten difficult in my institution and I don't have the patience neither the physical stamina to endure what is happening and what is yet to come. I suggested my Boss, Jess Zimmerman, to give me a professional contract so I can remain working for LUQ and the LTER but I don't think that is going to happen due to the difficult times that my University is going through.
I want you to know that if I was able to endure the past 29 years, in a great part, was thanks to the camaraderie and good hard work I was always engaged with you, the IMs. We have been a great group and I sincerely hope that this group never looses its path to collaboration and its ability to learn from each other and work harmoniously together, something that I dare to say we have been a model of in the LTER scientific community, local and internationally, for many years.
I am writing my farewell letter early to spare Jess the uneasy task of telling you I am retiring in the next ASM. He will be there substituting me (due to my doctor's order not to flight) so please take good care of him.
I have to be honest and tell you that although I am sad not be able to continue working with my fellow IMs and co-workers at my office, I am looking forward to this new stage of my life.
You will remain in my mind and heart and I hope we will see each other some day.
Stay cool. Enjoy the meeting!

Thanks Kristin for bringing him into our discussion. Yes, we will include him in the group list, and we can give him 15-20 mins to demonstrate Dkan features during the meeting. Can you please send me his email address, so I can include him in the coming Monday email out.
Best and see you next Saturday,
Yang

Hi Eda and Yang,
Jason Tallant, the information manager from the Michigan Biological Station, would like to join the DEIMS working group meeting at ASM remotely. He has a possible solution to the challenge of migrating DEIMS to a new version or platform when the time comes. There is another Drupal data management system called dkan that he is migrating his DEIMS in to. Would it be possible for him to join your working group via zoom? He can demonstrate some of the features of dkan (similar functionality of DEIMS, but a much larger user community).
The dkan website is here: https://getdkan.org/
Thanks for letting me know.
Best wishes,
Kristin
