[LTER-im-rep] updates

HI all,
Just a quick update on what we are up to and another opportunity for you to get actively involved in the process.

The group of IMs actively working on aspects of the transition from a central LTER data management office as we know it at the LNO to a distributed approach involving all LTER IMs has grown to about 15 IMs. Due to the fact that this number is hard to accommodate on telecons we have assigned subgroups to work on specific questions. These subgroups and their current participants are:

1.       Technology -Sven, Inigo, Ken, John P., Jonathan

a.       Establish a list of tasks an outsourced technology infrastructure needs to accommodate

b.      Explore and document different options of infrastructure providers

The tech group subfolder is: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B6s7W1UKuo9ufmkzZGZ1Q0NGLTJBSktBcl9KLTBaUkJYTUNyOGlhTXE4bUZWbm9yWDVKVGc/0Bz7Tlp6HHzpoflVlSVRVaUdOQktoNTUzUzduOGRsUFVEUDRGdmNLMFNZSS1lMktybUNaTTQ it contains a spreadsheet called 'Services bucket' where everyone is welcome to add more tech tasks.

2.       Project Manager - Gastil , John P., Kristin

a.       Assemble a list of tasks a project manager would have to accomplish

3.       Governance and Procedures - Corinna, Margaret, Phil, Emery, Paul, Jonathan, Wade

a.       Develop a governance model

We will call for a water cooler to present and discuss results from these efforts with everyone in the near future. In the meantime please feel free to contact anyone of us with questions, suggestions or to join one of the groups. And please check out the documents in the google folder and add ideas when you have them.
