*Subject:* [LTER-site-exec] LTER grad student science writing opportunity

We wanted to make you aware of an exciting new opportunity for LTER
graduate students to try their hand at science communication.

The LTER Network Office (LNO) is seeking graduate students who are
interested in writing blogs and web stories about the science and
education/outreach happening at their LTER sites. Selected students will be
required to commit to writing, providing visuals, and completing an editing
process for a minimum of 3 stories over the course of 1 year. Students will
receive a stipend of $300 for each completed story, as well as receiving
feedback and training from LNO staff to improve their science writing
skills for various audiences and build their writing portfolio. You can
read more and look over the application on our website
<https://lternet.edu/stories/science-writing-opportunity/>.

We are already advertising these positions via the Graduate Student
Committee and LTER grad student email list, but wanted to make sure you
know about this opportunity as well in case you want to encourage students
that might be particularly interested, or if students approach you with
questions. We are also requiring each applicant to provide one letter of
reference from a current supervisor, both to help us evaluate their
skillset and to ensure that their supervisor is aware of their time
commitment. Applications are due Nov 29th.

Thanks for your cooperation, and if you have any questions, feel free to
get in touch with me or Marty.
