Dear Hubbard Brook Community,

We are soliciting nominations for a new graduate student representative. Our current representative, Rebecca Sanders-DeMott has done an outstanding job and will be graduating with her Ph.D. this fall. Please send John Battles (jbattles at berkeley.edu<mailto:jbattles at berkeley.edu>) and I the following information by September 26, 2016 if you'd like to nominate a student. Graduate students are welcome to nominate themselves. Please include the following information about the student in your email nomination:

*         Name of student

* Email address, year in graduate school, graduate student adviser(s) and expected year of graduation

* Brief description of graduate student research at Hubbard Brook

Below is an overview of responsibilities for the Graduate Student representative at Hubbard Brook.

* Represent Hubbard Brook as the graduate student for the LTER network

o The current priority of the LTER graduate student committee is to improve and standardize the quality of mentoring at LTER sites. This link includes details of this vision: http://intranet2.lternet.edu/committees/graduate-student

* Help plan graduate student activities and attend All Scientists Meeting at the LTER meeting (meets every 3 years in early September; next meeting is in 2018)

* Help coordinate the Hubbard Brook graduate student and postdoc listserve

*         Attend quarterly COS meetings

* Organize graduate student events (e.g., meetings with speakers at the annual Hubbard Brook Cooperators' meeting)
