BTW: Liz Schultheis and Melissa Kjelvik, the Data Nuggets crew, have submitted a proposal. They are excited that LTER will have a presence at this workshop, they attended last year and had a good experience.

Cary is proposing a workshop on data literacy with pcb data for Hudson River Superfund Site fish.

I’d be happy to collaborate with LTER folks on an LTER-based workshop, too.

Subject: [LTER-education] The 4th Life Discovery Conference -- Proposal deadline January 15

LTER is a conference collaborator on the Life Discovery Conference described below. Seems like a great way to connect with educators who might want to use LTER data or tools in their classrooms. The deadline for presentation or workshop proposals is January 15. Any additional questions or information, please see the conference web site <http://www.esa.org/ldc/> or contact Theresa Mourad (Director of Education and Diversity Programs at ESA Teresa at esa.org <mailto:Teresa at esa.org> ).

Teresa says that NEON, Biodiversity Literacy network (AIM Up, iDigBio) and GENI have committed to be there and NimBios and SESYNC may be as well. It should be a good opportunity to network on data literacy and other data use topics.

Conference Theme - Data: Discover, Investigate, Inform

The study of organisms presents myriad forms, visualizations, and uses of data that stimulate new questions and engender new understanding of life on earth. The 4th Life Discovery - Doing Science Biology Education Conference invites proposals that create environments and opportunities for learners to Discover, Investigate and Inform with Data. We are especially interested in proposals that: focus on bringing research data into the classroom, present classroom-ready data investigation tools, and that feature large datasets across space and time and that address the developmental needs of learners, and the socioeconomic and cultural relevance of data in biology.

Join us in this exciting conference with your best ideas! We welcome your proposal for a workshop or short presentation. <http://www.esa.org/ldc/> DEADLINE: JANUARY 15, 2017 (extended)
