Hi folks,

Thanks to all who voted! We have 2 new LTER Communication Committee co-chairs: Julie Doll and Clarisse Hart.
In case you'd like to see the survey results, they're here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/results/SM-BX99DJQJ/.

According to the Doodle poll, our next meeting should be Friday, December 18 at 1pm Eastern Time. However, I don't think I told anyone else that important detail. If that time does NOT work for you, please email me. In the absence of a quorum, Julie and I will reschedule for January.

Thanks,
Clarisse

Thanks for organizing us, Clarisse!

I would welcome the opportunity to co-chair this committee and create a strong vision for LTER communication with the new NCO. I have been the Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Kellogg Biological Station LTER since 2009. I am passionate about dialogue-based approaches to disseminating research results and have conducted numerous roundtable events bringing together scientists and stakeholders to dialogue about issues related to climate change and sustainable agriculture. I have also held numerous communication trainings and workshops for journalists, scientists, students, K-12 teachers, and Extension professionals. In addition to managing KBS LTER social media and website outreach, I coordinate our communications with the media and University communication offices. Since joining the LTER community I have actively sought opportunities to engage at the Network level, participating and co-leading ASM workshops and a June 2013 communications training at the LNO. I appreciate your consideration of my nomination.

Thanks,
Julie Doll

Subject: [LTER-commcom] LTER ASM communication meeting: docs for review

LTER Communication team,

For those who could make it, thank you for a productive lunch meeting during the ASM! For those who couldn't, we missed you. Notes are attached. Please let me know of any edits.

Since the meeting, I've been told that our committee doesn't have by-laws. Someone please circulate them if they exist! In the event we don't have any, I've taken a few minutes to create some (also attached), using the education committee bylaws as a template. It's a lean document but includes some mechanisms for fairness and accountability. Please weigh in (including whether you think we should even have by-laws) by Sept. 18th if you are able, and at that point we'll move on to official nominations for co-chair.

We'll reconvene for a teleconference later this fall; Doodle poll coming soon.

Thanks!
Clarisse
