The LTER Network Communications Office has been busy this winter developing
a series of events to share Network science and raise the Network's profile
at the national level. Please join us -- on line or in-person -- to learn
more about what's happening across the LTER Network.

*Each month this Spring, one of the LTER synthesis groups
<https://lternet.edu/current-working-groups/> will present a webinar
<https://lternet.edu/stories/2018-synthesis-webinars/>on their activities.
Next up is:*

*Building Capacity for Increased Interactions between Modelers and
Empiricists*
*Thursday, February 8 at 2 p.m. EST (11 a.m. PST)*Kimberly La Pierre,
Meghan Avolio, and Kevin Wilcox

*Each year, the National Science Foundation Long-Term Ecological Research
(LTER) Network presents an overview of the rich and varied research taking
place at its 28 sites. In 2018, the topic of this half-day symposium is
ocean ecosystems and their connections to marine species and human
well-being. Speakers will include Deron Burkepile (MCR LTER), Evelyn Gaiser
(FCE LTER), Kyle Cavanaugh (SBC LTER), Susanne Menden-Deuer (NES LTER),
Merryl Alber (GCE LTER), and Bill Fraser (PAL LTER).*

Understanding Our Ocean Connections through Long-Term Ecological Research

April 19, 2018, 8:30 a.m. – Noon
National Science Foundation, 2415 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria, Virginia

The symposium is open to all, but preregistration is required. Please email
Cheryl Dybas (cdybas at nsf.gov) to pre-register. Please share the attached
flyer with interested colleagues in the Washington D.C. area.

*Planning for the LTER All-Scientists' Meeting is well underway. Each LTER
site will have 7 prepaid slots available for travel and meeting
registration. Much of the content for this triennial eco-science-fest is
generated based on the interests and energy of the LTER community, so add
the date to your calendars and put your thinking caps on now. The planning
committee
<https://lternet.edu/committees/2018-lter-scientists-meeting-program-committee/>
will be reaching out soon for workshop proposals.*
