Dear LTER community,
The NCO is forwarding this message from Julie Doll.
Below is an announcement from Dr. Stuart Gage (KBS LTER investigator) about
an exciting event coming up in 2016. Stuart has been a pioneer in
eco-acoustics and thinks many from the LTER community would be interested
in this event.
Best regards,
Jordan Halland

Michigan State University will host the International Ecoacoustics
Congress-2016. The Congress will take place at the Kellogg Hotel and
Conference Center (kelloggcenter.com) on the Michigan State University
Campus on June 6-8, 2016. We are expecting about 150 individuals from all
parts of the globe interested in Ecoacoustics to attend the Congress. The
general components of the Congress will include: a reception on 5 June from
5-7 pm; a banquet on 7 June with a Keynote Speaker (TBA). There will be 4
breakout rooms for discussion of special ecoacoustics topics and two
optional field trips to: 1) a beautiful mature deciduous forest where
ecoacoustic recordings have been made for 3 years, and 2) an amazing
riparian forest. The main body of the Congress will meet in the Kellogg
Auditorium where the attendees will hear an array of presentations about
ecoacoustics including topics from tropical, temperate, terrestrial, marine
and freshwater ecosystems from different regions of the world. To get to
the Congress in East Lansing, Michigan we suggest for those of you
travelling by air to fly to the Detroit Airport on 5 June (or earlier) and
take the Michigan Flyer Bus (http://www.michiganflyer.com/). Others may fly
to the Lansing Capitol City Airport and take local transportation to their
accommodation. The registration fee will be $185 for researchers and $95
for students. We will arrange transportation to the Kellogg Center where
the Congress will be held. The organizing committee consists of: Stuart
Gage (gages at msu.edu) (Michigan State University); Anne Axel (
axel at marshall.edu) (Marshall University); Jiaguo Qi (qi at msu.edu) (Michigan
State University).
