For those LTER colleagues attending ESA next week, the NCO has compiled a
list of all LTER-related talks and posters here:
https://lternet.edu/esa-lter

Stop by the exhibition booth (#426) early in the week to say "hi" and pick
up a printed list of LTER talks and the new Synthesis Working Group RFP.
The LTER Network Communication Office and the new Environmental Data
Initiative are sharing booth space, so you check in with us both at once.

In addition to all the LTER talks, two science communications events may be
of interest:

(1) Message Box Training
<https://eco.confex.com/eco/2016/webprogram/Session11913.html>: On Monday (
11:30-1:15), Karen McLeod of COMPASS will be offering a communication
training. This hands-on training will be designed to help you distill the
key messages from your research, explore the relevance of your work for the
audiences you most want to reach, explore the essentials of the science of
science communication, and craft and share effective elevator pitches.

(2) Engaging with the Wider World: True Tales Told Live
<https://eco.confex.com/eco/2016/webprogram/Session11906.html>: On Wed evening
(8-10p), Karen and Amanda Stanley (of the Wilburforce Foundation) will
co-lead a session to talk about how and why scientists are engaging with
society. A panel of speakers (Monica Turner, Annaliese Hettinger, Mo Ryan,
and Matt Williamson) will kick things off by sharing their own short
stories of engaging (their why's, successes, and failures) to kick off a
lively discussion with the audience. This will be followed by a
storytelling component that involves the entire audience. Libations will be
provided with free drinks for the first 30 who show.

See you in Florida!
Marty
