She was selected in a process in which 27<br class="">applications were received. Jenny has been Executive Director of the WCRP<br class="">Climate and Cryosphere (CliC) project since 2012 and previous to that was<br class="">the Founding Director of the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists<br class="">(APECS). She will start to work for SCAR part time from 1st July 2015 and<br class="">full time from 1st September 2015. I look forward Jenny continuing the<br class="">excellent trajectory marked by our previous executive directors, Colin<br class="">Summerhayes and Mike Sparrow.<br class=""><br class="">I use this opportunity to publically thank Mike Sparrow for his efficient<br class="">work and important contribution to SCAR during the last years as<br class="">Executive Director, and wish him all the best in his new job.<br class=""><br class="">I would also like to thank Rosemary Nash and Eoghan Griffin for their<br class="">excellent work and commitment, especially in these particularly busy<br class="">times.<br class=""><br class="">SCAR is in a very busy period, with the XXXVIII ATCM and XVIII CEP<br class="">meetings (1-10 June 2015, Sofia, Bulgaria), the XII ISAES that will start<br class="">shortly (13-17 July 2015, Goa, India), the EXCOM meeting, including the<br class="">discussions about the revision of the SCAR structure and the next<br class="">strategic plan in less than three months (26-29 August 2015, Tromso,<br class="">Norway). The plans for the 2016 XXXIV SCAR Meeting and the Open Science<br class="">Conference (19-31 August 2016, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) are advancing<br class="">well, and many other initiatives and workshops are going to take place in<br class="">the coming times.<br class=""><br class="">The projection of SCAR in different fora, like at the last ATCM, and our<br class="">relationships with our partner organizations are excellent.
