I have one more PhD student, Braulio Quintero, working in Puerto Rico, on broad energy-economic/historical/sustainability issues, but not really associated with Luquillo LTER. We tried to get him a little money through some wind-down funding I was supposed
to get, and Nick worked on that, but it fell through. <br>
<br>
But I am still connected some with LTER in my retirement in Montana. Would anyone have a strong opinion, one way or another, to adding Bali to this list? He has attended many URBAN LTER- "Down the mountain" events, and when he (given a successful defense)
gets his PhD would look good on my and our roster of products, especially since he is good and he is a Puerto Rican (meaning I think it looks good to generate more high level products from the Island). But maybe (probably??) it is too much of a stretch.

p.s. Oscar Abelleira, one of my undergraduates who worked mightily in Luquillo (Helping Nancy Harris, MS on trees in PR, much input from Lugo and others) not only received a PhD from University of Idaho but also nailed a tenure track job at UPR - Mayaguez.
