<p class="MsoNormal">As an equally early adopter and current user of DEIMS I realize that DEIMS, being based on Drupal, is a better known entity than any homegrown IM system not based on such a public platform. Something we considered a plus when we adopted
Drupal. I feel that we need to wait and see the actual written reviews and reason for the fair LUQ received from one of the reviewers. If in fact criticism of DEIMS was the reason rather than a recommendation we’ll need to discuss how to address this among
ourselves and possibly with NSF. I strongly feel that each site can choose the system for their data management and a proposal reviewer should only judge what is proposed for managing the data during the next six years and how well the site has done during
the last six years (i.e., are the data available in the LTER/EDI portal to support the research the site has published). If a reviewer feels that it will be difficult to upgrade from Durpal 7 to 8 they can say so, but leave it up to the site to deal with it.
Every site will always deal with difficult upgrades in their IM system, nothing is static in this area.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">So, I would prefer not put any more speculative discussions on the agenda for the ASM and work through the concrete issues Eda lists in her agenda.<o:p></o:p></p>
