I just wanted to reiterate the our position with regard to the selection process to make sure there is no confusion about where we stand. We offered to host NIMO at UNM if no other acceptable alternative presented itself. We are still willing to do so. However,
since there seems to be a number of viable alternatives, we are not planning on submitting the requested documentation. We will instead focus on the part of NIMO that is of most interest to us and which we are best qualified to address, maintenance and further
development of the PASTA software that forms the backbone of the NIS. We look forward to working with the eventual host institution to prepare the proposal(s) necessary to establish NIMO. We will also continue to look for other sources of support that might
assure the long-term success of the LTER data enterprise.<br>
