<p class="">The School of Public and Environmental Affairs (<span class="caps">SPEA</span>) at Indiana University is searching for a senior scholar with a specialty in Conservation Biology and a record of scholarship commensurate with appointment at Indiana
University as a tenured associate or full professor. The search is part of Indiana University’s Grand Challenge, Prepared for Environmental Change (for a full description, see <a href="http://grandchallenges.iu.edu/environmental-change/index.html" target="_blank" class="" style="font-size: 11pt;">http://grandchallenges.iu.edu/environmental-change/index.html</a><span class="" style="font-size: 11pt;">).
The faculty member will be expected to attract funding to support a vibrant research program including training of doctoral students. We are particularly interested in candidates with a research program that addresses interdisciplinary aspects of environmental
change and adaption.</span></p>
<p class="">Founded in 1972, <span class="caps">SPEA</span> was the first school to combine public policy, management, and administration with environmental science. The School is committed to excellence in research, teaching, and service addressing critical

Presently, </span><span class="caps" style="font-size: 11pt;">SPEA</span><span class="" style="font-size: 11pt;"> ranks first in the nation in environmental policy and management in U.S. News and World Report. As part of the Prepared for Environmental Change
program, the successful candidate will join 16 other new faculty hires as well as existing faculty across campus, as part of a community of scholars with a shared interest in understanding and adapting to environmental change. The Environmental Research Institute
(<a href="http://eri.iu.edu/" target="_blank" class="">eri.iu.edu</a>), part of the Prepared for Environmental Change program, facilitates research, collaboration, and communication among these faculty and a large cadre of postdocs and doctoral students. The

in applicants with a strong mathematical/statistical and computing background who have experience in developing, modifying, and implementing novel methodologies to extract and integrate information from large biological, chemical, ecological, and/or geospatial
datasets. Preference will be given to candidates whose research leverages these datasets to improve our mechanistic and/or biological understanding of populations, communities, and/or ecosystems, and who seek to develop interdisciplinary collaborations with
colleagues in environmental science, chemistry, biology, geography, and/or public health. Persons with experience and knowledge in applying Bayesian methods, machine and deep learning, and explainable artificial intelligence to complex environmental datasets

<div>Applicants should have research interests in the general field of human behavior and the natural environment, with a focus on understanding society’s adaptive capacity and resilience in the face of environmental change. Related research interests might
include but are not limited to human risk perceptions and decision-making, human use of natural resources, human use and management of working lands, human/environment feedbacks, political ecology, and environmental justice. The Ph.D. or an equivalent terminal
degree in a related field is required (e.g., human ecology, environmental studies, environmental anthropology, rural or environmental sociology, political science, environmental psychology, sustainability, etc.)<br>
