            <div dir="ltr">Hello
              <div><br>
              </div>
              <div>I am a faculty member at Columbia University, and
                this summer, along with my colleague Jacquelyn Gill at U
                Maine, we will be running a workshop on best practices
                to avoid sexual harassment and assault in the field.  A
                recent study by Clancy et al. (<a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0102172"
                  target="_blank">http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0102172</a>)
                showed that ~60% of participants were sexually harassed,
                and ~20% of participants were sexually assaulted during
                field work. This is intolerable and we, as a community,
                must do better.</div>
              <div><br>
              </div>
              <div>I'm writing you today because we would like to extend
                an invitation to any members from the LTER network to
                attend our workshop at the upcoming ESA meeting on
                Tuesday August 11th from 11:30-1:15.  We would love to
                hear from people running the stations about what
                services they have for visitors and frankly, what
                constraints they face running stations in remote areas,
                so that as a community we can identify things we are
                doing well and things we can improve.</div>
              <div><br>
              </div>
              <div>I am not really sure who the best person to send this
                to, so if you could help point me in the right direction
                I would be very thankful.</div>
